Candidate Evaluation Matrix

Compare shortlisted candidates against weighted criteria.

Olatunbosun Olalekan 4 min read

Setting it up

  • List 5–7 criteria critical to the role.
  • Assign a weight (must sum to 100).
  • Score each candidate 1–5 per criterion.
  • Compute weighted total = Σ (score × weight).

Why a matrix

It forces panellists to define ‘good’ before they meet the candidates. That's the single biggest reduction in interview bias you can make for free.
